ABOUT THE ARTIST

Zeina Antar Saadie is an Australian artist hailing from Lebanon, where she was born into a family of art collectors who fostered a deeply rooted affinity for creativity from an early age. Growing up amidst the turmoil of war, she found solace and expression through her art, recognizing the significance of beauty amid chaos.

After obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and Advertising, Zeina founded Antar Group, a design agency in Beirut. She spent her summers in Europe, particularly in Paris, where she explored renowned museums that further enriched her artistic sensibilities.

In 1999, Zeina relocated to Sydney, embracing Australia as her new home and delving into the realm of art for art's sake. Immersed in the vibrant patterns of Aboriginal and Australian art, she honed her skills through studies at the Julian Ashton School of Art, focusing on portraiture and the human form.

Driven by unwavering optimism, Zeina seeks to capture the essence of beauty in the simplicity of everyday life. Her paintings are intricate layers of mixed media intertwining on canvas, weaving together a palette of surreal colours juxtaposed against contrasting textures. For Zeina, art serves as a visual manifestation of our inner complexities, perceiving the world through our emotions, memories and dreams, inviting us to appreciate the profound beauty within.

In February 2025, Zeina Saadie will be holding her exhibition, Tangled Unity, at the NSW Parliament House. More information about the opening event can be found in the
